Dave Patten: Judge An Artist By His Covers

davepatten After getting little recognition for his first independent LP's, Dave Patten tried a different approach to getting his music out there: covers. By recording covers of mainstream songs such as "Sweetest Girl" and "Disturbia" (both shown below), Dave Patten started getting some attention. Columbia Records contacted him to open for Wyclef Jean, after hearing the "Sweetest Girl" cover. There's more to Dave then just his covers though, he released "Mixtape '08" a free, 5-song download of some of his greatest hits. Songs such as "Just Don't Care" and "Take Me Down" show his multi-genre influences with a blend of acoustic rock, hip hop, and a voice that makes you imagine he's much older then 20. Listen to these songs and also check out the videos below and you'll see the diversity of his influences and his unique and unforgettable sound. P.S. Anyone who knows my affinity for trying to start group sing-a-longs of Disturbia in public places must know that Dave's version holds a special place in my heart.
